Walt Disney World Wait Times for Halloween Week 2022
We’re re-entering the busy season at Walt Disney World.
The rest of 2022 will include several crowded periods like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the start of EPCOT’s Candlelight Processional/Festival of the Holidays.
Conversely, we’ll also track some slow weeks from post-Thanksgiving to pre-Christmas.
Then, we’ve got calendar configuration strangeness like right now. As a confession, the name of this article isn’t quite true.
We’re discussing the wait times for the timeframe of October 24th through October 30th. So, it’s more of an Almost Halloween evaluation.
With Halloween falling on a Monday, we’ll have some strangeness both this week and next.
So, without further ado, let’s examine the park wait times for the week!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
I’m currently at Disney this week for the first time since the pandemic ended.
Something I’m noticing anecdotally is that the weekday wait times aren’t high, at least in the My Disney Experience app.
So, I was really looking forward to tracking how the averages play out for what I’d consider a slower-than-normal Halloween week at the parks.
At Animal Kingdom, Avatar Flight of Passage continues its run of dominance.
For the past week, it averaged a wait of 94 minutes, which is actually down three minutes from last time.
Meanwhile, the other popular ride at Pandora – The World of Avatar, Na’vi River Journey, also fell to 70 minutes, a five-minute drop.
Here are the other wait times at Animal Kingdom for Halloween week:
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 48 minutes, down 7
- Adventurers Outpost – 44 minutes, up 2
- Expedition Everest – 30 minutes, down 6
- Kali River Rapids – 29 minutes, down 6
- DINOSAUR – 22 minutes, down 9
- TriceraTop Spin – 9 minutes, down 3
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 8 minutes, down 3
Overall, guests waited an average of 37 minutes for Animal Kingdom attractions this past week. That’s a significant decline of seven minutes.
So, what we’ve noticed aligns with what the data suggests. Let’s check whether that trend continues at the other three parks.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Anecdotally, we’ve had multiple friends tell us that they’ve recently had their best Hollywood Studios visits in ages.
So, I’m optimistic as we start our evaluation. And that optimism is immediately rewarded as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance’s average wait drops to 100 minutes.
That’s seven minutes less than last time and is in line with the other wildly popular ride at the park. Slinky Dog Dash fell to 87 minutes, a decline of five minutes.
How were the other Hollywood Studios attractions? Let’s take a look:
- Toy Story Mania! – 70 minutes, up 10
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 69 minutes, up 1
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 69 minutes, up 7
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 62 minutes, up 3
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 49 minutes, down 1
- Red Carpet Dreams – 45 minutes, no change
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 34 minutes, no change
- Meet Sulley at Walt Disney Presents – 28 minutes, down 12
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – 21 minutes, up 6
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 14 minutes, no change
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change
Okay, that optimism died screaming. Overall, guests waited for an average of 52 minutes for Hollywood Studios attractions. That’s five minutes more than last time.
EPCOT
As usual, we’ll discuss the three main attractions at EPCOT first.
For the past week, Frozen Ever After required the longest wait at 75 minutes, an increase of three minutes from the last time.
Meanwhile, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure dropped significantly to 64 minutes. That’s a full 20 minutes less than last time.
Anecdotally, based on our experiences, I suspect that the 84-minute average stemmed from downtime, as the ride has proven a bit skittish lately.
In my experience, when Ratatouille breaks down, it causes several minutes to restart, which can lead to substantially longer waits.
The other E-ticket attraction at EPCOT is Test Track, which averaged a wait of 63 minutes. That’s two minutes less than last time.
Here are the other wait times at EPCOT for Halloween week:
- Soarin’ Around the World – 50 minutes, up 4
- Royal Sommerhus – 32 minutes, down 3
- Spaceship Earth – 15 minutes, down 5
- Mission: SPACE – 12 minutes, down 7
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 10 minutes, up 1
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – 10 minutes, up 1
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 9 minutes, up 1
- Turtle Talk with Crush – 8 minutes, up 1
- Living with the Land – 6 minutes, down 6
Overall, guests waited an average of 28 minutes, which is three minutes less than last time.
Magic Kingdom
Okay, so we’ve got some confusing data here. Guests waited substantially less time at Animal Kingdom.
However, Hollywood Studios increased significantly, while EPCOT declined modestly.
What should we expect from Magic Kingdom? I have no idea. Here are the wait times:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – 68 minutes, up 3
- Peter Pan’s Flight – 63 minutes, up 2
- Jungle Cruise – 57 minutes, up 7
- Splash Mountain – 46 minutes, up 7
- Haunted Mansion – 45 minutes, up 5
- Town Square Theater – 45 minutes, up 4
- Space Mountain – 44 minutes, up 8
- Princess Fairytale Hall – 40 minutes, up 6
- Pirates of the Caribbean – 39 minutes, up 13
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – 36 minutes, up 10
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 35 minutes, up 2
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – 33 minutes, up 4
- Astro Orbiter – 31 minutes, up 6
- Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid – 26 minutes, up 6
- It’s a Small World – 24 minutes, up 3
- Magic Carpets of Aladdin – 21 minutes, up 6
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant – 18 minutes, up 6
- The Barnstormer – 16 minutes, up 4
- Tomorrowland Speedway – 12 minutes, up 2
- Mad Tea Party – 11 minutes, up 3
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – 10 minutes, down 3
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic – 9 minutes, no change
- Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor – 8 minutes, down 6
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel – 6 minutes, down 3
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 5 minutes, no change
- Country Bear Jamboree – 5 minutes, no change
On the whole, guests waited an average of 30 minutes for Magic Kingdom attractions during Halloween week. That’s five minutes more than last time.
By way of explanation, this park usually closed at 6 p.m. on the nights of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party events.
So, the late-night drops in wait times at the other parks didn’t happen here.
As for Hollywood Studios, it’s where many people went if they couldn’t get into the Magic Kingdom Halloween party.
