Universal Trolls Disney for the Lengthy Construction Time of TRON
Universal does what Universal does best, trolls Disney. I love Disney, but Universal does have a point.
We learned at the D23 Expo over the weekend that Tron: Lghtcycle Run will be opening in the Magic Kingdom in the spring of next year. This announcement has been a long time coming as it seems like the construction for Tron has taken literally forever. Construction started in 2018… closing in on 4 years now.

Universal stated the obvious about how long it is taking considering they started work on their newest coaster Velicocaster in early 2019 and it was officially open to the public in 2021. That’s impressive considering this all went on during the Covid shutdown.
There’s really no answer to why it’s taking Tron so long to get completed. Both parks were impacted in the same ways during the pandemic, but yet Tron is taking a significantly longer time to open. And Velocicoaster is not a simple, small rollercoaster. It is a very well-made, thought out, absolutely amazing roller coaster that will probably be better in terms of roller coasters than Tron. If you have been on it, then you know exactly what I mean!
The fans can not wait for Tron to open as it will add another thrill ride to Magic Kingdom and is sure to be a fan favorite. We can’t wait for its opening date!
