Disney Cruise Line Hires Bahamian Conservation Experts
If you know Disney, then you know the company is all about conservation. Now, Disney Cruise Line hires Bradley Watson and Pachancia Knowles as environmental conservation experts.
Their Roles
Bradley Watson (from Nassau, Bahamas) became Bahamas Conservation Programs Manager for Disney Cruise Line. Meanwhile, Pachancia Knowles (also from Nassau) is the new Bahamas Assistant Conservation Programs Manager.
The duo leads Disney Cruise Line’s implementation of the environmental management plans and local conservation strategies within The Bahamas. Their positions are based in Eleuthera, so Watson and Knowles will especially focus on Disney’s progress in Eleuthera at Lighthouse Point.
Disney began work at Lighthouse Point, creating more than 300 construction-related roles. This more than doubles Bahamian employment with Disney Cruise Line.
Commitment to The Bahamas
Dr. Andy Stamper is the Conservation Science Manager with Disney’s Animals, Science, and Environment. Stamper says, “At Disney, our approach to protecting the environment has always been centered on the idea that people are the key to meaningful and lasting conservation success.”
He continues, “Bradley and Pachancia’s expertise and history of work in The Bahamas will be tremendously valuable as we carry forward our commitment to people, wildlife, and nature in the region. We are excited to welcome them to the Disney team.”
Bradley Watson
Watson is no stranger to conservation efforts. With Bahamas National Trust, he led community-driven conservation and ecotourism projects as a science officer. In addition, Watson became The Bahamas’ National Youth Climate Ambassador earlier this year.
Bradley Watson stated, “I love my country, the environment, and the people who live in it, and that is why I am working to develop a future where each can thrive. I’m excited to join Disney Cruise Line and help facilitate sustainable economic opportunities for Bahamians while also protecting the environment so we can better prepare for the future and unlock the unlimited potential of The Bahamas.”
Pachancia Knowles
Likewise, Knowles worked with the Bahamas National Trust since January 2020 as a marine science officer. She conducted marine monitoring and restoration of The Bahamas national parks, including restoration from Hurrican Dorian.
Pachancia Knowles wishes to inspire younger generations to take care of wildlife and the environment. In fact, she used to be an educator and animal trainer to share a responsibility to protect the environment.
Knowles said, “I believe that everyone can make a positive impact to create a more resilient and healthier world. I look forward to my new role with Disney Cruise Line and collaborating with valued partners to support the Bahamian economy and, at the same time, celebrate and protect our region’s rich biodiversity.”
Exciting Additions
We are so excited for Bradley Watson and Pachancia Knowles for their new positions as Disney Cruise Line hires two new experts.
