Check Out The Way Disney Cruise Line Is Giving Back to Port Communities
Disney Cruise Line has recently launched its “Wishes Set Sail Program” which is an all-new initiative developed to support various youth activities in key port communities.
The program was recently announced at two recent ceremonies in conjunction with Disney Wish’s first call to Port Canaveral and Nassau Cruise Port. At these ceremonies, Disney leaders announced that both Junior Achievement Bahamas and Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida Brevard County Branches will be the first to receive donations under this campaign.
The programs at JA Bahamas help students understand the economic world and business fundamentals while exploring career opportunities and developing word-readiness skills. Disney Cruise Line’s donations have been earmarked for Abaco, Eleuthera and Nassau specifically to support programs focused on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, college prep and work readiness.
The Walt Disney Company has previously partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida which aims to provide a safe space for more than 7,000 at risk children to learn and grow. Funding for the Brevard County Clubs will support education and career development programs with a focus on the maritime and hospitality industries.
You can check out the video below to see Captain Minnie and other Disney reps during a visit to the Cocoa Club.
The journey is just beginning for “Wishes Set Sail” its part of Disney’s ongoing commitment to distribute $400,000 to local youth organizations throughout the inaugural season of the Disney Wish!
This is just one of the many ways that Disney Cruise Line aims to inspire kids to pursue maritime careers. On the Disney Wish and Disney Wonder, Captain Minnie Mouse is also on hand to lead kids in an all new marine-themed STEM activity.
In addition, Disney Cruise Line has recently developed a scholarship program in partnership with the LJM Maritime Academy in Nassau for female cadets that want to become ship captains and shipboard leaders. The scholarships include tuition to the 3-year program.
