Let’s Talk about Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge
The Disney Wish’s grand opening is right around the corner on July 14th.
However, the leaders of our MickeyBlog team were lucky enough to be among the first people to depart on the maiden voyage.
They loved everything on the cruise, especially one of the new themed locales.
Let’s talk about Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, a place so great Disney won’t let you stay forever!
About Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge
The Disney Wish hosts several restaurants and bars. Only one of them comes with a Star Wars theme, though.
Yes, when you enter Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, you’ll feel just like the tourists on Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
That’s because the bar utilizes the same technology as the hotel rooms of Galactic Starcruiser.
You’ll notice a giant monitor behind the bar. Its display reflects your location on your journey to a galaxy far, far away.
You can watch the space monitor while you drink, and the background will change the whole time to reflect your movement!
Sometimes, you’ll notice Tie-fighters or X-Wings as you fly because, well, stuff happens in outer space.
Something you should keep in mind about Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is its size. The place can hold about 30 people or so.
When you enter the super shiny lounge, you’ll catch sight of three booths that can seat five or so.
Then, the building adds some open-ended seating and the bar stools.
In other words, we’re talking about a small, dark bar with countless glowing LED lights. It’s not a massive hangout area.
For that reason, Disney has arbitrarily determined the maximum amount of drinking time for guests.
After 45 minutes, they’ll kick you out of the place like you’re an angry drunk who just threw a punch at the bartender.
Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge must do that because the Disney Wish hosts several thousand guests per voyage.
When only 30 of them can sit in the lounge at a time, management must keep the line moving.
What to Expect at Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge
Imagine the trendiest nightclub you’ve ever visited. Okay, now imagine it full of Disney/Star Wars nerds. Yeah, that’s pretty much it, only in the best possible way.
As you walk through the opening doorway, a shiny Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge sign will greet you.
On the right side, decadent intergalactic bottles indicate that it’s a better breed of bar than, say, Cheers.
The left side consists of a digital display akin to the ones you’ve watched in the Star Wars movies. It includes Luke Skywalker-style radar and more starship data.
Something that impressed me about this lounge is that it appears much more upscale than Oga’s Cantina, even though it’s a smaller space.
Aliens are on display in some corners, which is…pretty dark. Their final moments were apparently quite unhappy.

Another statue – I hope – shows a Togruta. If you’re unfamiliar with these aliens, one of them is Ahsoka Tano.
However, these stylistic decisions reflect the lone negative with the lounge. Only one section includes that starship display…and it’s not even the entire wall.

You can look at this viewer screen from anywhere within the lounge, but it’d be nice to have the screen on the opposite wall…or all four walls.
On the plus side, the seating here works for individuals and mid-sized parties alike.
When you’re with a group of people, you can take one of the enclosed tables or even the open-ended ones if you have more than five in your group.
You won’t all have a coffee table type of spot to place your drink, but that’s a trivial matter.
Conversely, solo drinkers can hang out at the bar, where they’ll enjoy the best possible view of the outer space digital projection.
The Menu at Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge
Obviously, the main headline regarding the lounge has centered on its $5,000 drink.
Yes, that’s a real thing, and no, you shouldn’t drink it. I don’t care if you’re Jeff Bezos reading this.
$5,000 for one drink is a bad investment. You can buy plenty of six-packs for that price.

Disney is using that beverage as an easy headline generator. But, overall, the pricing at this lounge is remarkably reasonable for a Star Wars experience.
Many of the menu items here do tricks, with bartenders sometimes floating objects in the air before spiking them into your drinks.
Obviously, the options here aren’t part of the standard cruise package. So, you’ll pay a la carte for your order.
Non-alcoholic drinks start at $7, while beers begin at $10, and fancier concoctions mostly range from $12-$20.
For something that either mists, glows in the dark, or both, that’s not a bad price at all! Plus, you’re getting a show with your drink!
Note that you can also order several wines here. They come from a mystical place known as Earth-Europe.
Of course, drinking French or Italian wine could ruin the illusion for you. So, keep that in mind!
By the way, for $12 more, you can snag a souvenir Hyperspace Lounge Glass.
As long as you can swing by your room soon afterward to drop off the glass, you should totally buy (at least) one!
Overall, MickeyBlog was extremely impressed by Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge.
