BREAKING: The Characters On Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress Have Had An Outfit Change!
Breaking news! We can’t quite believe we’re saying this, but the characters on Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress have had an outfit change!
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is an institution of an attraction at the Magic Kingdom, beloved by families for its depiction of progress from the turn of the century to modern times. If you’re unfamiliar with the attraction, you can read all about it in this fascinating MickeyBlog article here.
The final scene of the show features the Progress family all together at Christmastime, in a (now-ironic) version of the future/modern-times.
Whilst enjoying the show this afternoon, MickeyBloggers were surprised to see that the entire family has had an outfit change in this scene, and these new looks are certainly what everyone should be talking about this weekend!
We’ll start with the men, and take it over to Mr John Progress, who is famously in the kitchen during this particular Christmas.
Formerly, John was sporting a deep blue Christmas sweater, with a snazzy green apron over the top. Now, he’s switched it up with a red Christmas sweater, and a rather bold new apron to go with it.
The apron boldly features the words “My Food Rocks!” This is funny, because his food certainly doesn’t rock in this particular scene (if you know, you know!).
Moving over to Jimmy, who has ditched the fabulous rainbow sweater for a grey jersey. There’s some kind of logo on his chest – whether it’s a sport or video game league we don’t know – and the number 6 on his arm. He’s still in jeans, but we’re thrilled to share that he has swapped out his sneakers for some rather-iconic festive slippers!
As a quick refresher, here’s a photo of what the kitchen fashion looked like before the change:
And here’s the scene now:
It’s worth mentioning that Rover is looking exceptionally more festive now too, with a new red ribbon tied in a brilliant bow around his neck.
Sarah over here is looking classier than ever, sporting a stylish new up-do in her hair and some enviable, thick-rimmed glasses. The red sweater has been switched to this pale pink number, accessorized with a patriotic red, white, and blue scarf, and teamed with some dark trousers.
The grandmother is over in the lounge, and we’re thrilled to see that she is still rocking that VR headset!
She has, however, switched the dated, curtain-esque dress for this demure salmon piece, which she has fashionably belted and teamed with a cozy-looking brown knit. On her lapel is a fantastic corsage of ribbons and florals, which really add a festive feel to the whole look.
What an absolute queen.
We’re moving over to the other side of the room now, where Patricia and her granddad are sitting under the stunning Christmas tree. Here’s a look at the before:
And here’s the scene now:
Even the tree has had a dress-up!
The grandfather has swapped his old waistcoat and brown pants look for this rather stylish new cardigan and plaid trouserr combo. He’s still wearing his red tie, and holding the presumably-gifted holiday ties on his knee.
With Peggy, we couldn’t be prouder! Gone is the pastel knit, pale jeans, and fluffy socks. She’s now sporting a grey hoodie, reading “Progress Tech: School of Urban Planning.” Sounds like she’s on to great things – go girl!
She has also straightened her hair and tied up into a casual messy pony, and the ski boot she was holding now appears to be a hiking boot. My favorite detail is that she has matching slippers with her brother – how cute!
What do you think about these new outfit changes in the Carousel of Progress? Are you a fan? Or would you rather see them all in matching Spirit Jerseys? Let us know in the comments!
