FLASHBACK: Celebrate 30 Years of Disneyland Paris With a Look Back at Show ‘Rock Shock’
Who is ready for a walk down Disneyland Paris Memory Lane? The theme park took to their official Twitter page this morning to share with us a look back at a popular stage show from the Early Days of the European Disney park and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate Disneyland Paris’ 30th Anniversary than to share this magic with you!
If you visited Disneyland Paris back in the 90s you may remember that Videopolis located in Discoveryland used to be home to some interesting stage productions. The architecture and ambiance of this venue was inspired by science fiction from writers like Jules Verne and HG Wells. The first production to appear on the Videopolis stage was “Rock Shock” which is dubbed as a Rock ‘n Roll Journey through the universe of Jules Verne.
Check out this production in action this funny GIF below:

Pretty out-of-this-world right!? There are also a few videos of the original production floating around online. Here’s one we found on YouTube!
The Videopolis is also the home to Cafe Hyperion which is almost the Disneyland Paris version of Cosmic Ray’s.
“Rock Shock” told the story of a gang of teenagers journeying in the footsteps of Jules Verne to the beat of rock music and would run at the park from 1992 – 1993. Disneyland Paris brought the show back in 1995 as part of the celebration for Space Mountain.
With “Rock Shock” retired for good in 1995 the venue would go on to be home to range of other productions including: Beauty and the Beast (93-96), The Music and the Magic (1998), Mulan- The Legend (1998 – 2002), Minnie’s Birthday Surprise (2002 – 2003), Mickey’s Showtime (2003-2004), The Legend of the Lion King (2004-2009), Cinema Mickey (2009-2010), CineDisney (2010-2015) and most recently Jedi Training Academy.
