West Side Story – Streaming Soon on Disney+
Steven Spielberg’s critically acclaimed take on this iconic music will FINALLY be making its Disney+ debut on March 2! With music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim the film has been nominated in the following categories:
- Best Picture
- Best Directing
- Best Actress in a Supporting Role
- Best Costume Design
You absolutely don’t want to miss this hit from 20th Century Studios when it comes to Disney’s streaming network.
Nightmare Alley – Streaming on Hulu
Now on Hulu, there is a ton of buzz about this film by director Guillermo Del Toro from Searchlight Pictures. Nominated for Best Picture and Best Production Design, the story is based on the 1946 novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham, follows an ambitious carny (Bradley Cooper who also produced the film) and book a ticket to success by conning society bigwigs.
Encanto – Streaming on Disney+
We need to talk about Bruno! Not only has the incredible soundtrack for Encanto topped the Billboard chart but the film has also been nominated for Best Animated Feature Film, Best Original Score (Germaine Franco), and Best Original Song for “Dos Oruguitas.” The film tells the story of the family Madrigal, a magical family in Colombia with some incredible secrets!
The film is streaming on Disney+ now.
Cruella – Streaming on Disney+
The original of story of one of Disney’s most iconic villains is up for two Academy Awards: Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. The film is set in 1970s London where we find Estella, a creative young fashion designer determined to make a name for herself, becoming the super villain we know today!
The Eyes of Tammy Faye – Streaming on HBO Max
Nominated for two Academy Awards including a Best Actress nomination for Jessica Chastain, you’ll go inside the incredible world of televangelist Jim and Tammy Faye Baker by streaming the film on HBO Max.
Free Guy – Streaming Soon on Disney+
Nominated for Best Visual Effects, this 20th Century Studios film starring Ryan Reynold’s takes place in a video game world filled with gravity-defying adventures and is now on Disney+
Luca – Streaming on Disney+
Scoring a nomination for Best Animated Feature, Luca tells a fin-tastic coming of age story of two teenage sea monsters over the course of a summer on the Italian Riviera. The film is now available to stream on Disney+
Raya and the Last Dragon – Streaming on Disney+
We’ve got yet another Disney Best Animated Feature Film nominee. This lush-fantasy adventure explores the beauty of teamwork, the power of hope and the magic of trust. Check it out now on Disney+.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings – Streaming on Disney+
If you’ve seen this Marvel Studios action-adventure, you’ll know that it’s no surprise that the film was nominated for Best Visual Effects. The film follows Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) who must confront the past he thought he left behind when is is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. Be sure to check it out on Disney+
Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) – Streaming on Hulu and Disney+
This Searchlight Pictures nominee is Questlove’s filmmaking debut and has earned a nomination for Best Documentary Feature. The film tells the story of 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival held 100 miles south of Woodstock.
The 94th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 27, at the Dolby® Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, airing live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/PT (and in more than 200 territories worldwide). Mark those calendars—and stay tuned for more Oscars content right here at D23.com!
