Canopy Of TRON Coaster Takes Shape
WOW! We go a day without visiting the Magic Kingdom and a TON of progress is happening over at the TRON coaster.
Look at the outdoor canopy now!
The space-aged style panels are starting to go up on the canopy and they are incredible.
We can really start to see the attraction take shape from the overlook at the Tomorrowland Speedway.
We suspect that it won’t be long now before we see the entire outdoor structure for the coaster properly covered.
It is going to be such a beautiful addition to the Magic Kingdom skyline.
For those unfamiliar, the coaster will have both indoor and outdoor components and the canopy you are looking at will house the outdoor portion
Illuminated it will give that feeling of floating through cyberspace just like in the popular TRON films.
Disney has yet to announce an official opening date for the attraction but we take all of this progress as a very positive sign.
The coaster track has been laid, the entrance to the ride is now visible and the building that will house the inner portion of the building is standing proud.
Once completed the coaster will have pride-of-place in Tomorrowland where it sits next to Space Mountain.
Not only is this attraction inspired by the TRON films but also by popular attraction, TRON Lightcycle Power/Run at Shanghai Disney.
Above you can see the track for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
The PeopleMover is another great attraction to visit to get a look at the TRON construction site.
We also like to snap photos from Storybook Circus near the Barnstormer.
The photos above offer beautiful sight-lines of the coaster track as it comes from the inside of the building to the outdoor canopy.
Construction crews have been hard at work each and every day that we visit the parks.
The coaster has actually been built in an area that previously housed the track for the Walt Disney World Railroad.
The Railroad has remained closed throughout the construction process and the track was removed.
Once work on the TRON coaster is completed, the Railroad will be rerouted and back in service.
I can wait to see Tomorrowland once the attraction is officially opened.
Until then it will be more baby steps as we watch the rest of the canopy be laid out which will near completion over the next few weeks.
Here’s a closer look at the futuristic details in the coaster design.
The track itself is gray with white/silver panels and canopy.
The entire outdoor structure will be covered in panels like the ones that you see in these images.
It makes the entire attraction look so fluid!
Below you can see the multiple levels of the structure.
Here’s a wider shot of the entire construction site.
