Is Tomorrowland Speedway Reopening This Month?
Ladies and gentleman, start your engines! The Tomorrowland Speedway at the Magic Kingdom appears to be reopening this month!
The Tomorrowland Speedway originally closed for an extended refurbishment on January 2, 2019 due to the construction of the much anticipated Tron Coaster. The goal of the refurbishment was to reconfigure the track. Disney stated that the updated track would be a tad shorter but would still offer the same experience Guests have come to know and love.
The Tomorrowland Speedway was originally scheduled to reopen on May 18, 2019. However, it looks like the opening has been delayed by a few days and will now reopen on May 22, 2019 instead. Per the My Disney Experience app, May 22, 2019, is when FastPasses will once again be available for the attraction. However, it is possible that the ride could reopen prior to the May 22, 2019 date without the convenience of FastPasses.
The Tron Coaster is scheduled to open at the Magic Kingdom in 2021 – just in time for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. An exact opening date has not been announced.
