Animals Feast Off Living with the Land Produce
A trip through Living with the Land not only teaches guests an abundance about biomes and growing techniques, it also showcases the incredible research and horticultural work that takes place at the Land pavillion each day. Not only do the crops grown at the Land feed guests at EPCOT, but they also feed another group of very important animals at Walt Disney World: the residents of Disney’s Animal Kingom.
“In The Land Pavilion at EPCOT, Cast Members grow an assortment of food that can be found at restaurants across Walt Disney World Resort. #DidYouKnow some animals get to eat food from The Land, too? Fresh produce like tomatoes, lettuce, melons and more make great additions to their balanced diets,” posted Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment on Facebook this week.
Similar to the scientific experts at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and their passionate research, the research lab at The Land also pushes the boundaries in its field. During Living with the Land, guests get a glimpse at some of the research taking place there, which focuses on food crop production in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service.
For those looking to learn more about the remarkable projects going on, including work with the use of bugs to combat pests, keep your eyes out for the return of the Behind the Seeds Tour. This unique behind-the-scenes experience takes guests within not only the gardens and fisheries featured on the attraction but also into a lab.
The tour also presents one of the more affordable extras to add on to a trip to Walt Disney World Resort. In the past, it has cost only $29 per person, excluding tax.
