Best Place to Watch Fireworks in the Magic Kingdom
If you have been to the Magic Kingdom since Disney introduced their new nighttime spectacular, Enchantment (https://mickeyblog.com/?s=enchantment), you may have noticed that Main Street USA is more crowded than ever!
That’s because Disney’s latest show for the Magic Kingdom includes more than just projections on the castle, it includes projections on the buildings of Main Street, as well!
People are flocking en masse to Main Street USA to see it, and we have actually seen Main Street hit capacity and have been turned away… That’s wild!
As true Disney fans, we’re here to tell you, Enchantment isn’t worth standing in the middle of a sea of 10,000 of your closest friends.
We love new innovations and new stories, but let’s be honest, Happily Ever After was nighttime perfection. There was no way you could improve on the song, the medley, the projections, or the overall show.
If you’re missing Happily Ever After you can watch it on YouTube here!
The new projections on the building are definitely an interesting concept but they don’t really add anything to the show. In fact, Enchanted’s projections on the castle aren’t really anything to freak out about either.
The pyrotechnics on the other hand…
With all of the backlash that Disney got for Enchanted when it first debuted, Disney went back to the drawing board to try to improve that already completed show and they came up with more fire! There are even special fireworks that form special Disney shapes in the sky.
Here’s a Tip to View the Fireworks
Get far away from Main Street USA! Take the bridge over to Tomorrowland and STOP. There in the corridor in front of the exit from the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor is the perfect spot because even on a day where the Magic Kingdom was at full capacity, NO ONE ELSE WAS THERE!
In this little slice of Disney heaven you have a full unadulterated view of the castle and all of the fireworks! But what about the projection show!?!? Fireworks go boom. And the projection show is just meh.
After the Fireworks
As soon as the fireworks are over, the Main Street USA area is a little scary to be honest, and is a little like trying to cross the Amazon with a heavy tide. It is the easiest time and place to be separated from your family. No thank you.
Over in our Tomorrowland sweet spot, we walk right on to the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor after the show. Everyone is tired and the Laugh Floor is air conditioned and dimly lit most of the show.
Sit through one last show and get a few chuckles (or sleep) before you go to leave the park. The crowds should have died down a bit at this point.
Summer Fireworks 2022
Disney just recently announced that they are going to have 2 fireworks shows until the end of the Summer season. The first show will be at 9:20 and the second show will be after 11:00 PM.
Here’s your chance! If you really want to see the full Enchanted with all of the projections, then stick around for the second show. It’s sure to be A LOT less crowded for the second show.
HEY DISNEY!
You know what would really be cool? If the second show was actually Happily Ever After! Ooooooh and make it a sing-a-long.
“That’s what friends areeeeeee forrrrrrrrrrr”
