TRON Lightcycle Construction Speeding Along at Magic Kingdom
With expectation growing at, well, lightspeed, Tron Lightcycle/Run construction appears to be kicking it into high gear at Magic Kingdom. Not only does pavement work seem to be progressing from the Tommorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, but the large enclosed structure that houses part of the attraction also received some of its final exterior panels today.
From the PeopleMover, crews appear to leveling ground to complete the enormous pavement space underneath the high-speed thrill ride.
Scaffolding also remains at the track exit from the main building with work on the exterior of the building continuing.
With much of the iconic outdoor track and “Grid” constructed, the lightcycle track definitely redefines the Tommorrowland visual space for guests already. With its immense scale, the ride actually will encase part of the track for the Walt Disney World Railroad with that popular attraction still shuttered due to the ongoing TRON construction.
Barnstormer Perspective on Tron Canopy
The long-awaited attraction also now looms in the background of the Barnstormer, an entry-level coaster in Storybook Circus, which is part of Fantasyland.
From Barnstormer today, MickeyBloggers watched construction workers continue to place the final panels on an exterior structure for the attraction.
“Experience high-speed thrills and chills as the Grid comes alive in a heart-pounding race for survival. Created as a friendly way for ‘Programs’ and ‘Users’ to interact, the Power Run pits team against team in the quintessential quest to capture 8 Energy Gates and triumph over opponents,” explains the Shanghai Disneyland description.
With no set opening date yet, many hope that the new Tron Lightcycle/Run attraction at Magic Kingdom will open during “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” which extends into 2023. Honoring the resort’s 50th anniversary, the addition of such a riveting attraction to Magic Kingdom would certainly add to the festivities.
