A Vegetarian’s Review of Geyser Point
Situated on the banks of Bay Lake, Geyser Point Bar and Grill is a picturesque dining location that perfectly combines great food with a fantastic view.
Accessibly by boat from Magic Kingdom, it’s a great place to consider if you want to escape a Magic Kingdom that’s full of guests, and lacking in good dining options (sorry Magic Kingdom, but it’s true). I recently dined at Geyser Point on a gorgeous Florida evening, and I can’t wait to tell you about my experience!
If you read the title of the article, you’ll know that I’m a vegetarian, so each menu item reviewed here will be reflective of that. Since Geyser Point features a full service bar, I just had to start my meal with one of their signature drinks!
I opted for the red sangria. It was a perfectly sweetened sangria that supplied flavor notes of pungent citrus and dry red wine to counterbalance the sweetness. To be honest, Geyser Point’s red sangria has always been one of my favorite sangrias on Property because it ISN’T overly sweet, and they knocked it out of the park again the other night!
Disney always does a great job of ensuring vegetarians and vegans are taken care of at restaurants. Geyser Point offers the fewest vegan and veggie friendly menu options I’ve seen of-late, but what they DID offer was right up my alley.
Vegetarians are pretty limited in the appetizer category. Only the edamame would qualify as something I could have enjoyed off that particular section of the menu. I knew I would be getting my fair share of veggies from my entree, so I went with an order of fries as an appetizer.
Sadly, the unbelievably delicious Geyser Point waffle fries are GONE…but I didn’t cry for too long. The fries I was served looked to be the basic Disney fry you’d get from any quick serve meal, but the fact that they were piping hot and very salty made them a very enjoyable snack to pair with my sangria. Be warned: the Wilderness Lodge ducks will adorably beg you for fries.
Overlooking Bay Lake while enjoying my drink and appetizer is enough to send anyone straight to vacation paradise. During dinner, we watched the boats carry guests to and from the Magic Kingdom and surrounding Resorts- and we even saw a Magic Kingdom ferryboat come into service from across the lake!
I opted for the multigrain and grilled portobello salad for my entree. Grilled zucchini, yellow squash, roasted red peppers, and onions (I left those out) were served over a bed of lightly dressed mixed greens and quinoa. The highlight of the salad was absolutely the grilled portobello mushroom spears! They were marinated for just long enough to be super flavorful while maintaining that ‘meaty’ mushroom texture that is oh so good. My only complaint here is that I wish there were more portobellos- especially on a salad that takes its namesake from the mushrooms!
Overall, I can’t recommend Geyser Point more highly. Yes, I do wish there were one or two more options I could have ordered because really…there was just the one…but it was so well done that I- or anyone else in my party- didn’t mind.
If you can wait and head to Geyser Point on a clear evening just before sunset (which is possible to do here since it’s first come first serve with NO reservations!), there is truly no better place to escape Magic Kingdom and enjoy a relaxing meal before the Fireworks. Let me know if you’ve dined at Geyser Point and what you thought!
