The Walt Disney Company Turns 98!
It’s not all 50th birthdays around the Disney-verse this month. Walt Disney Company celebrates 98 years this week!

“Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio” was formed by Walt and Roy Disney on October 16, 1923. After stints of operation as the “The Walt Disney Studio” and “Walt Disney Productions”, as well as corporate shuffling and the creation of several new production subdivisions in the 1980s, the official “Walt Disney Company” title was designated in 1986.

For the next 30+ years, Walt Disney Company truly became a leader in the film, television and theme park industries. Today, the Company operates two primary divisions – Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution and Disney Parks, Experiences and Products – and three content groups – The Walt Disney Studios, Disney General Entertainment Content, and ESPN and Sports Content. There’s certainly no denying that each of these five business segments is a mega-powerhouse in their field, all vaulting the Walt Disney Company’s assets to over $201 billion.
Disney Animation
Disney Animation, part of the Walt Disney Studios content group, released a new video on Friday, celebrating 60+ animated films since the Studio released its first feature length production, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937.
The video showcases each fully animated film under the Disney Animation umbrella over 90+ seconds. There’s a lot of nostalgia here with oldies like Fantasia, Melody Time, and The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. The end of the short video introduces Disney’s newest animated project, Encanto, coming to theaters November 24, 2021. Check out the whole video below!

Iger Celebrates
Bob Iger, former CEO of Walt Disney Company (2005-2020) also tweeted his well wishes, thanking the many people who have kept Walt Disney’s dreams alive for nearly 100 years. He coupled the tweet with a black and white photo of a young Walt Disney and a very early Mickey Mouse.
