Man Finds Out the Hard Way That Not All Warthogs Are as Friendly as Pumbaa
Because of Disney’s influence, when most people think about warthogs it immediately conjures up images of the always adorable and sometimes flatulent Pumbaa from the popular film The Lion King. Therefore, it’s easy to forget that warthogs are wild animals and have incredible teeth that they’ll use to attack when cornered. In a video that has now gone viral, one traveler who had a surprise encounter with a wild warthog found out the hard way.
Though we couldn’t find the original clip, it is making the rounds in various forms online. Just check out this tweet.

As you can see from the clip above, the man first tries to talk to the warthog as the animal approaches and wonders aloud if they could pet the animal. It isn’t long before he regrets his decision and his screams for help can be heard.
There’s a moral to all of this which is that humans should be mindful of animals in the wild and it goes without saying that many people were quick to cite Disney’s The Lion King as one of the reasons that people think wild animals are friendly, even domesticated.
Some of these comments are just as funny as the original video:
This isnβt Lion King fam https://t.co/h3JJZ2Y60i

There were lots of people commenting that this is real life not a Disney movie.
Blame Disney for making people think they friendlyπππ pic.twitter.com/cXohmvKn0G

Then there’s the clip above which lays the blame squarely on Disney and couples it with a fun snippet of Seth Rogan’s take on Pumbaa from the live-action The Lion King.

Another twitter user thought the entire experience was reminiscent of that famous scene from The Jungle Cruise and we couldn’t agree more.
This reminds me of the Disneyland Jungle Cruise! pic.twitter.com/ZJQKVdRkzJ

We thought a great way to end our look at this viral moment is the comment below.
Well that was not Hakuna Matata.
— Tinkas Peace (@PeaceOfTinka) October 12, 2021
The comment reads, “Well that was not Hakuna Matata.” As fans of the film can tell you this phrase, which is a line in a song that Pumbaa and Timon sing actually means “No Worries.”
Let’s hope that in the future, people think twice before trying to cozy up to a warthog!
