Walt Disney World Leaders Celebrated the Eve of the 50th Anniversary with Lunch at Disney’s Grand Floridian
Yesterday, on the eve of the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World, a very special lunch took place to honor and celebrate a group of people whose efforts brought the resort to where it is today.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle shared that he’d had a “wonderful” celebratory meal, with some “amazing people who led the Walt Disney World Resort”.

Joining him at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa was:
- Dick Nunis – former Chairman of Walt Disney Attractions
- Al Weiss – former President of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts
- Meg Crofton – former President of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, USA and France
- George Kalogridis – former President of Walt Disney World Resort
- Josh D’Amaro – Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products
In the post, Vahle said:
Today, on the day before our 50th anniversary, I had a wonderful lunch with some of the amazing people who led the Walt Disney World Resort: Dick Nunis, Al Weiss, Meg Crofton, George Kalogridis and Josh D’Amaro. We enjoyed reminiscing about the special honor we all have shared.

Of course, if it were not for the dedication, hard work and passion of this group of people, Walt Disney World Resort would certainly not be celebrating its 50th in the way it will be doing today.
Each of these Disney Parks leaders, both former and current, have made a great impact on the parks we know and love.
Just last week, Vahle joined a group of Cast Members celebrating 50 years of employment at Walt Disney World for a special celebratory meal in the Magic Kingdom. We imagine his schedule is full of celebrations right now!
We aren’t sure what this group chatted about over their meal at the Grand Floridian, but we imagine the conversation would have been fascinating!
