100-Year-Old Disneyland Tree Dedication
Sure, there are thousands of fun facts, historical tidbits, and other secrets about the Disney Parks. However, did you know that Disneyland has a 100-year-old tree dedicated to a Latino man, the former property owner?

Indeed, @disneyparks on TikTok recently highlighted this historical fact. This palm tree, located on the Jungle Cruise, remained in the same location since before Disneyland.
Ron Dominguez
Disneyland dedicated the tree to Ron Dominguez. Prior to 1955, Dominguez owned and lived on the Disneyland property.

In fact, the Dominguez family remains connected to Disneyland. Here is the history.

Ron Dominguez bought and dedicated the tree to his grandparents as a wedding gift over 100 years ago. Then, Walt Disney approached the Dominguez family about purchasing the property for Disneyland.
So, Dominguez agreed with the condition that the palm tree stayed in its location. Therefore, Disney made and kept that promise, and the 100-year-old tree remains standing today.

From Rags to Riches
Now, the tree is a permanent fixture and historical staple in Disneyland. Additionally, Ron Dominguez worked as a ticket-taker at Disneyland when it opened.

However, this temporary job became permanent, and Ron worked at every attraction throughout the park. Promotions continued as he became a supervisor, manager, Director of Operations, Vice President of Disneyland, and Chairman of Park Operations.

Also, he became Executive Vice President of Walt Disney Attractions, West Coast. In fact, his home served as a Disneyland administration office for years, until Galaxy’s Edge replaced it.

This kind man is so important to Disneyland history; he was inducted as a Disney Legend in 2000. In addition, a window on Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A. honors Dominguez.
Ron Dominguez was Vice President of Disneyland for 16 years. Sadly, he passed away on January 1, 2021, but his story continues on in Disney history along with his 100-year-old tree.
