BREAKING: Simba Announced as Next Fab 50 Statue!
The next Fab 50 statue has been announced as part of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations, and it’s none other than Simba from the beloved The Lion King.
That’s right, Simba will be taking his rightful place amongst Disney royalty in the form of a gold statue in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise as Simba’s two loyal sidekicks, Timon and Pumbaa, are also getting their own statue in Disney’s Animal Kingdom also!
Specific locations are yet to be announced, but we couldn’t imagine this trio in any other park.
L Steven Taylor, who portrays Mufasa (Simba’s father) in The Lion King on Broadway, took to Disney Park Blog’s Instagram account to share the news.
Taylor is passionate about the story that unfolds in The Lion King and has been involved in the production since 2008, playing a variety of roles as well as Mufasa, even including Scar!
It felt incredibly fitting for the Broadway actor to introduce Simba into the Fab 50 Character Collection, and his passion could be read for the story through the screen.
Simba will be joining a vast array of characters that will be across the Walt Disney World property as part of the resort’s 50th anniversary which will begin on October 1st, 2021.
Some of the characters already confirmed include Dumbo, R2D2, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and Dante from Pixar’s Coco.
