“Luca” Easter Eggs Join Collection of the Hidden Gems
Disney Easter Eggs. People hear about them all the time, and no, not the decorative ones hidden around the EPCOT World Showcase during the spring holiday or the amazing pieces of art at Disney’s Grand Floridian. Actually, Disney Easter Eggs are little surprises hidden throughout their arsenal of movies, shorts, and television series.
Usually embedded discretely into feature films, Easter Eggs take characters from one movie and give them cameos in others. Searching for them certainly adds a touch of sleuthing to any film-watching experience. You can even spot some in the theme parks. (Check out the puffins the next time you ride “Frozen Ever After” in EPCOT. They are actually from the original Maelstrom attraction.)
New to the concept of Easter Egg hunting? Let us get you started with a few of our favorites, including one of the many from yesterday’s Pixar release, “Luca.”
Luca’s Love of Learning and a Classic Disney Tale
In “Luca,” Giulia introduces Luca to all kinds of new adventures through books, including astronomy, history, and even classic stories like the Itallian delight, “Pinocchio.” The whole scene sets up Luca’s want to win the annual Portorosso Cup Triathlon so that he can win a Vespa and travel the world.
Wreck-It Meets Big Hero 6
In 2018’s “Wreck-It Ralph Breaks the Internet,” there is a a pop-up ad relating to Aunt Cass from Big Hero 6. The ad features a “sassy housewife,” but she is no ordinary homemaker. It is, in fact, Aunt Cass from “Big Hero 6.”
Moana Tries to Summon the Genie
Deep within the ocean, Moana visits Tamatoa’s collection of shiny objects. One of those shiny objects just happens to be Aladdin’s lamp buried within Tamatoa’s collection. Viewers can spot the “so shiny” fan-favorite magical lamp in the forefornt of the shot when Maui puts his hands on his hips proudly to intimidate the giant crab. The lamp is just to Maui’s right.
“Frozen” Elephants on Parade in Zootopia
Even the animals of Zootopia couldn’t help but embrace “Frozen” fever in the 2016 Walt Disney Animation feature film “Zootopia.” Obviously fans of the 2013 sister-story blockbuster, two baby elephants stroll across the street dressed up like Anna and Elsa as they cross through Tundratown.
The Rapunzel/Anna/Elsa Connection
Well yeah they make an appearance in Frozen. Once #TangledTheSeries is over it will be nice to see Rapunzel & Eugene’s entire journey from #Tangled to TTS to Ever After to #Frozen. It would be amazing if they made an appearance in #Frozen2 as well! I’d like an offical #Frangled pic.twitter.com/sxoS5MY1mM

Much debate swirled around how the three princesses above might be connected after Princess Rapunzel was spotted approached Arendelle Castle for Princess Elsa’s coronation. When they finally “open up the gates,” Rapunzel clearly shows her excitement for the big day as she joyfully struts into the ceremony.
A Little Wooden Boy and the Snuggly Duckling
One of Disney’s most beloved classic characters, Pinocchio, makes a super subtle appearance in 2007’s “Rapunzel.” The little wooden puppet sits on a post in the rafters inside the Snuggly Duckling. While Rapunzel and the Pub Thugs of the bar sing their remarkable song, “I Have a Dream,” Pinocchio too must be pondering his own hopes to be a real boy.
A Lion for a Hero

As Hercules goes through a number of quests to become a god again, he must slay a lion. What better lion to choose than the devious and dastardly supervillian, Scar. When Hercules poses for a portrait with the lion on his back, it is clear that the ferocious feline is none other than “The Lion King” sinister sibling. Hercules then throws the lion down, and Scar’s greenish-yellow eyes briefly sneer at viewers.
