Disney Cruise Line Will Require Masks on the UK Cruises
Disney Cruise Line recently released information that they will resume cruises this summer from ports in the United Kingdom. These “staycation” cruises will be for UK residents only and will leave and return to ports in the UK. This was very good news though for all Disney Cruise Line fans, because it means cruising is returning.
From the United Kingdom, the Disney Magic will sail on 2, 3, and 4-night sailings round-trip from London Tilbury, Newcastle, Liverpool, and South Hampton. All of this comes after the CDC released the following statement:
CDC is committed to working with the cruise industry and seaport partners to resume cruising following the phased approach outlined in the conditional sailing order. This goal aligns with the desire to resume passenger operations in the United States expressed by many major cruise ship operators and travelers; hopefully, by mid-summer with restricted revenue sailings.
Many potential cruisers, even those thinking ahead to future cruises, are wondering what the COVID health and safety guidelines will be on these first UK cruises. According to the Disney Cruise Line website:
“Face coverings are required for all guests (ages 11 and up) and crew members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining, swimming or in your stateroom. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time.”
Other health and safety guidelines will include the recommendation that guests age 3-10 also wear masks (although it will not be mandated), a health questionnaire will be required through the Navigator’s App each day for passengers, and there will be temperature checks on board.
The Magic will be sailing at a reduced capacity, partly to reduce crowding in common areas.
Cruises, like the parks, may not look the same for a while, but we are happy that Disney Cruise Line’s Magic will set sail again and very soon.
