Disney World 50th Anniversary License Plates Meet Quota For Production
We’ve got some exiting news to share with you regarding Disney’s 50th Anniversary license plates with ALL proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish foundation. We reported on the story last week that Florida resorts would be able to register an interest to pre-order the license plate pictured above that celebrates Disney’s 50th Anniversary while at the same raising money for a good cause.
As we reported last week, in order for the plates to be printed, the state of Florida needed to see a demonstrated demand with with 3,000 pre-order. The Orlando Sentinel reported today that this threshold has been met and that the license plates will go into print!
As the Sentinel tells us, in 2020 the Florida Legislature passed a bill that allowed for up to 33 new specialty license plates to join tags already available in the state.
Disney becomes the third plate since the legislation was passed since it reached its goal follow plates for both for the Navy Blue Angels and the Coastal Conservation Association of Florida. As of going to print, the Disney plate currently have the most pre-orders with 3,568.
If you pre-ordered your plate you’ll be able to get your tag once it’s produced at tax collectors offices around the state.

Plates that are next closest to hitting their goal including one for the Divine 9 traditional Black fraternities and sororities with 1,900 and an Explore Off Road Florida tag with 919. The state keeps track of them at it website. Other plates in the mix include those for Orlando City soccer team, Florida beekeepers, Beat Childhood Cancer, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Florida Highwaymen artists.
Plates have two years to reach their requirement before being pulled from consideration.
The state had not had any new specialty tags since 2015. While there are currently more than 120 tag designs available, the state had begun removing one tag per year with the lowest number of active registrations. For 2021, that plate was for Edward Waters College.
