Say Goodbye To Single Rider Lines At Disneyland (For The Time Being)
With Disneyland and Disney California Adventure officially opening their gates to visitors starting at the end of next months, we know that things will be different in a myriad of different ways. Social distancing measures will be put into place, health and safety precautions should be expected and more.
And, as the OC Register points out, it will be the end of an era with the news that the Single Rider Lines will need to be temporarily put on hiatus!
For those unfamiliar, single rider lines have long been a treasured perk for those determined to skip the long theme park lines for some of Disneyland Resort’s more grown-up attractions if they fly solo. However, like other beloved Disney policies, single rider queues are going to be put on hiatus when both parks open on April 30th due to state mandates.
It’s not surprising given that (as the Register points out) single rider lines are by their nature designed to fill in every open seat which a no-go when it comes to physical distancing.
Under the states recently updated COVID-19 restrictions, seating on rides and attractions at both Disneyland theme parks should only be by household group with riders from different households seated at least 6 feet apart. It is also requested that seating patterns be adjusted to maintain social distancing. This may result in what we saw initially at Walt Disney World which was every other ride vehicle or row being left empty before plexiglass dividers were installed.
Its not just Disney this is going to have to abandon their single rider policy when they reopen. Park officials at Six Flags Magic Mountain said that Single Rider Lines will not be an option when the theme parks reopen on April 1st. Shanghai Disneyland also scrapped single rider lines when they reopened and Disney World in Florida temporarily eliminated the option across their theme parks when the they reopened last July.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on Disneyland Resort reopening policies. Readers are encouraged to keep checking back with us for further news and updates!
