See the Raya and the Last Dragon Mural In Person!
MickeyBlog treated us all to a surprise trip all the way out to California to Disneyland. The walking tour of Downtown Disney had some wonderful views of the area including the new Raya and the Last Dragon mural.
The mural celebrates the new Disney film as well as the embracing and respecting of differences and cultures. The artist, Xiao Qing Chen, was born and raised in Malaysia. Her mural makes the perfect background for a photo op or an Instagram post.
When asked about her piece, Qing Chen said, ” I love seeing how Raya, Sisu and the crew come together from different lands for a common quest. With all of their differences, each brings their own unique strength to the table. They choose to be vulnerable with one another, offering support and trust when needed during challenging times.”
The mural was also released during Women’s History Month, ”I am flattered and honored to have the chance to debut this piece during Women’s History Month. I am extremely thankful for the women who have lifted me this far in life, and for the global community that continues to challenge stereotypes and break barriers.”
The mural is not only beautiful because of its theme and subject matter, but the colors in the painting are amazing. Qing says she was inspired by the art of Batik, a fabric design common to the region she is from in Southeast Asia.
If you would like to see the mural in person you will have to travel to Disneyland, or you could just watch the most recent livestream from MickeyBlog and you can see the Raya mural and much more!
Raya and the Last Dragon was released on Disney+ and in theaters on March 5th.
