Disneyland Cast Members Have Created The Most Adorable Red Panda For Charity
This Disney Cast & Community story put a huge smile on our faces on this Saturday morning! Disney creatives recreated Mei the red panda from Disney’s and Pixar’s Turning Red at South Cost Plaza in Costa Mesa!
This cutie was recreated by a dedicated team of Disney engineers, architects and VoluntEARS who came together to assemble Mei in ONE NIGHT! The official title of this work of art is “CAnda PANDA Make a Difference?” and it was actually made out of thousands of cans and babyfood to raise awareness as part of Canstruction Orange County.
All of the materials used including olive cans, baby food and bags of rice will be donated to the Orange County Food Bank later this month!
Community Action Partnership of Orange County launched this awesome event 15 years ago to bring together local architect and engineering first to help combat hunger.
Disneyland has contributed to the event almost every year even winning both the Best Original Design and Most Cans awards.
The Red Panda display features over 8,000 cans and required months of preparation to get the design just right. The structure stands and impressive 10 feet tall.
If you live in California, you can check out the exhibit at the South Coast Plaza through September 25th.
