Experience “Raya and the Last Dragon” at the Animation Experience at Conservation Station
We are mere weeks away from the official debut of Disney’s next full-length animated feature – Raya and the Last Dragon. To celebrate a very special experience is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Animals have long been an integral part of Disney films starting with Bambi and fantastic creatures continue to inspire some of our favorite Disney friends to this day. The Animation Experience at Conservation Station in Disney’s Animal Kingdom offers guests the chance to learn how to draw characters inspired not only by the animals they find at the theme park but also that they admire on screen!
With that in mind, starting on February 22nd, the learn-to-draw tutorials at Animal Kingdom will include Raya’s faithful companion Tuk Tuk.
Tuk Tuk is part pill bug, part pug and makes an adorable companion! As you’ll find out when the movie premieres on March 5th, Tuk Tuk has been Raya’s best friend she he was tiny! For those taking part in this special animation workshop you’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at the inspiration for Tuk Tuk shared by Kelly Marie Tran who voices Raya in the upcoming film as well as Awkwafina who voices the dragon Sisu.
But that’s not all of the Raya-inspired fun you can have at Animal Kingdom. At Discovery Island stage artists will soon being working on a 40 ton sand sculpture celebrating the new film. This incredible display will feature Raya, Tuk Tuk, Sisu and Ongi all set in the imaginary world of Kumandra. It will take a team of artists over 24 hours to build and carve this display that will be entirely made out of sand!
You’ll be able to watch the artisans at work from February 19 through 21st. The stunning carving will remain on display at Animal Kingdom through the end of March.
If all of this has put you in the mood for Raya and the Last Dragon, you’re in luck! We’ve got the latest trailer to share with you below!
Don’t miss your chance to check out this incredible film when it is released both in theaters and on Disney+ (for an additional $29.99 fee) on March 5th.
