Disney Reports Indicate Smaller Round of Layoffs Going Into Effect In March
Over the past year, the theme park closures and COVID-19 have had a HUGE impact on Walt Disney World cast members with 30,000 cast members across Disney’s theme parks, Cruise Line and more have lost their jobs in 2020. At times the lay-offs were swift with thousands of cast members at a time finding out that they wouldn’t be returning to the theme parks.
Though Disney World seems to be taking a turn in terms of attendance going up 35, Disney still announced that 19 additional employees are being let go effective March 20th.
As you can see from the image above, these details come from filings with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. You can see there are three separate postings impacting 19 employees all within the areas of Arts, Entertainment and Recreation. Though we don’t know the specific roles of those impacted we can see from the filings which you can take a closer look at here that 15 come from different departments within Walt Disney World, one is from Maingate and three are from offices in Celebration.
Any jobs lost are a sad day for Disney and our thoughts certainly go out to all of those impacted by the announcements above. If we have any further details regarding these posts we promise to let you know.
