Chalk Art, Exhibits And More Transform EPCOT for Festival of the Arts
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you’ll know that we were at EPCOT on Friday for the official opening of the 2021 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts! We brought you a first look at the menus, merchandise and so much more during our visit. However, before we wind up the weekend, I just wanted to double back and share with you some images of the incredible chalk art and artwork that you’ll want to check out as you meander around the World Showcase!
The Chalk Art exhibit each year is a must do for Disney fans of all ages.
We arrived at EPCOT early so many of the artists were just getting started on making their stunning Disney projects come to life.
However, what we’ve seen so far looks promising!
One of my favorites so far was the enchanted rose from Beauty and the Beast beautifully on display in gentle hues!
And in brighter tones is this stunning recreation of Sorcerer Mickey from Fantasia.
You’ll also fine mini masterpieces like the one below that makes us want to sail away with this recreation of Claude Monet’s Sailboat!
As you’re making your way around the World Showcase, be sure to take some time to enjoy the “Drawing on Inspiration” exhibit.
It features incredible images from artists Jimmy Pickering and Morgan Lee Richardson that capture the magic to be found around EPCOT.
The pieces convey a sense of EPCOT’s history but also a sense of the EPCOT of the future as you can see of the image of the pylons which were recently created to usher in all of the changes coming to the theme park in the year ahead!
As Richardson says above EPCOT was built on optimistic tenants that connect us all “like an invisible conduit that allows each of us to weave our individual stories into the vast collective tapestry of shared time on this planet. ”
Drawing its inspiration from The Land, the images above share our connection with nature. We even love the connection to the floating balloons found in The Land Pavilion.
As you can see from the quote above, Pickering was inspired by his very first visit to EPCOT.
The space themed images above, really capture that moment of awe, wonder and possibility!
Next up we turn our attention to Universe of Energy where we remember the dinosaurs from Ellen’s Energy Adventure!
As Pickering says of the various Pavilions that make up EPCOT, “the impact was not just the physical and imaginative content of the pavilions themselves but the impressions they provided my creativity long after experiencing them.”
Both images below capture the under-the-sea wonder of a visit to The Living Seas pavilion.
This images really do convey all of the wonderful elements and vibrancy of an EPCOT visit!
And through these designs Jimmy Pickering and Morgan Lee Richardson hope that visitors to EPCOT for the 2021 Festival of the Arts are able to find their own little spark of inspiration
Whether that comes from dragons of the imagination or going on a mission to space!
And no EPCOT themed art installation would be complete without at least an image or two of the incredible Figment!
Trust us when we say that the EPCOT international Festival of the Arts is an absolutely feast for the senses!
Why not start planning your EPCOT visit now through February 22nd to take in all of the incredible sights, sounds and tastes of this celebration of the performing, visual and culinary arts.
