Disney Cruise Line Job Posting Hints at the Return of Cruising
If you are like me and have been un-patiently waiting to hit the high seas again, I have a glimmer of hope to share! Just yesterday, January 5, 2021, Disney Cruise Line posted a listing on DisneyCareers.com for a Beach Lifeguard position at Disney’s Castaway Cay which hints that the return of cruising could be imminent.
While a skeleton crew has remained at Disney’s Castaway Cay since Disney Cruise Line suspended cruises back in March of last year, a posting to bring in more Cast Members to the exclusive, private island, especially ones that would deal directly with Guests, is very hopeful.
So, when do I think Disney Cruise line will return to cruising exactly? Unfortunately, at this time it’s still hard to know for sure. Currently, all sailings through February have been cancelled and sailings for March have been removed from the official Disney Cruise Line website but Guests booked on those voyages have not yet been contacted that their cruise has been cancelled. Please keep in mind that most sailings that are scheduled to be over seven nights have been cancelled into 2022.
That leads me to believe that the earliest Disney Cruise Line might return to cursing is March of this year. The CDC has already issued guidelines that the first cruises out will be required to have a limited number of Guests. Since those cruises have not yet been cancelled but have been pulled from inventory, it would be a first step to cruising again with limited Guests.
A limited number of Guests is just one mandate the CDC has issued to Disney Cruise Line and all other cruise lines as part of their phased approach to cruising again. The CDC’s phased approach for the return of cruising also includes frequent COVID-19 testing for all crew members along with simulated sailings or test cruises to ensure that all enhanced health and safety protocols are followed.
