The Incredible Disney Holiday Gift Guide II
I’ve got good news and bad news for you holiday shoppers.
The good news is that we’re still a couple of weeks away from Christmas.
The bad news is that businesses have struggled to ship products on time during the pandemic.
Also, if you’re Jewish, mazel tov! You’re working with a tighter timeline, as the celebration began on December 10th.
In other words, we all need to get serious about holiday shopping. So, here’s MickeyBlog’s latest gift guide.
Fleece Blanket(s)
You know what everyone forgets while holiday shopping? It’s winter now!
Think about that holiday fantasy that everyone has, the one where you sit by a fire and drink hot cocoa.
Do you know when you need the fire and the cocoa? It’s freezing outside! You’re cold and long for the warmth of these items.
Your friends and family members feel the same way, which provides you with an opportunity to solve their problem for them.
You can gift them a Disney-themed fleece blanket, thereby keeping them warm and comfortable throughout the long, cold winter.
You’ll find dozens of options at sites like Hot Topic, Box Lunch, and ShopDisney.
Personally, I prefer the on-the-nose theming of a Frozen blanket.
Disney Sketchbook Ornament
Okay, you’re reading this in December, which means that you’re running out of Christmas tree time in 2020. That’s okay, though!
I’m still going to suggest that you purchase ornaments for some of your loved ones.
I speak from experience on the quality of these gifts. We have some friends with whom we’ve unintentionally started an ornament gift exchange.
A few years ago, we got them an ornament, opened the mail, and realized that they got us one, too.
Since then, we’ve leaned into it, and everyone loves the idea.
Disney sells high-end ornaments from their Sketchbook collection. These decorations recreate memorable moments like the Up House.
Some of them even play music. The hot Disney Store gift a few years ago was a Frozen ornament that played Let It Go.
Disney adds several new items each year, meaning that you can surprise someone with what’s guaranteed to be a new one every Christmas.
Then, each time they put up the tree at the start of the holidays, they’ll think of you. It’s a perfect system.
In fact, I legitimately stopped writing this for about 20 minutes to shop for the perfect ornament for our friends. What do you think?
This Beret
Do you have a cat lover on your shopping list? Then, don’t overthink it.
Advent Sock Calendar
Speaking of high fashion, I think I mentioned last year that I’m in the middle of a years-long battle of wills with my wife.
I’m not a fan of giving people socks as a Christmas present. In response, she outlandishly claimed that she’d never get tired of getting socks as a gift.
First of all, she’s certifiable. Second of all, I’ve spent the past two holiday seasons trying to prove her wrong.
I’ve purchased multiple advent calendars like this one. It’s a 12 Days of Christmas type of gift.
Starting on December 13th, you hand the person the gift box. Then, they spent the next 12 days opening it, receiving more socks each day.
Last year, I apparently didn’t go big enough. So, I’m all-in for 2020. I’ve picked seven sock-based advent calendars with 12-15 pairs of socks each.
My wife’s getting a grand total of 99 pairs of socks this year.
She must add them to two overflowing drawers full of socks. At which point, she’ll admit defeat, right? RIGHT???
Seriously, though. Advent calendars make for perfect holiday gifts since they bring daily joy into the lives of your loved ones each December.
I’ll point out that you can also buy Funko advent calendars.
I bought the missus this one and this one for Christmas this year.
They’re a lot more fun for me than watching someone stare at a pair of new socks.
Marvel Unlimited Subscription
Here’s the proverbial gift that keeps on giving.
Those of you who have a Marvel fan in your life – and that’s pretty much everyone these days – should pay attention here.
Disney has digitized the overwhelming majority of the entire Marvel comic book library.
You can find West Coast Avengers and Howard the Duck stuff on this site, Marvel Unlimited. It’s so detailed that even the obscure books are available.
The digital comic book service works by selling a monthly or annual subscription.
Marvel Unlimited has offered a couple of deals during the holidays, most recently an annual subscription for $59.99.
So, you can give your Marvel-loving friend a year’s worth of access to virtually the entire Marvel comics library.
Better yet, Marvel adds new comics each day. In fact, the company recently reduced its release window from six to three months.
In layperson’s terms, you can read this week’s new Marvel comics via Marvel Unlimited in March of 2021!
So, this gift unlocks the equivalent of a weekly pull list for your friend! At $59.99, you might want one, too!
Official Lightsaber
Look, I’m not judging anybody here. Maybe you have a kid, and maybe you don’t. It doesn’t matter to me.
All I’m saying is that you can head to the official ShopDisney site and pick out several products straight from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
One of them will look shiny and make you feel like a Jedi. It’s a basic white Lightsaber, the kind that makes Stormtroopers wince.
For a modest $49.99, you’ve got the galaxy’s most dangerous glowstick. Your child will feel empowered while using it.
If you don’t have kids, think of this Lightsaber as a way to nourish your inner child. My wife won’t put down the weapon she got at Savi’s Workshop.
2020’s been a rough year. Swinging a glow-in-the-dark stick might make you feel better.
A 2021 Walt Disney World Vacation
Hey, how’s your 2020 going? Exactly.
Your family needs some escapism now more than ever. And what’s the best possible getaway destination?
With Disneyland currently closed, the answer is unquestionably Walt Disney World.
In fact, that’d be the answer no matter what, at least for 2021. In October, Disney will celebrate the park’s 50th anniversary.
You can imagine how many festivities Disney has planned. We’ll experience new restaurants, rides, and fireworks presentations.
However, the 50th-anniversary events will lead to sellouts at the parks.
Annual passholders briefly discovered this a couple of weeks ago when Magic Kingdom ran out of Park Passes for October 1st, 2021.
Hotel guests can still book a room and accompanying Park Passes, though. In doing so, you’ll give your family something to look forward to happening.
When’s the last time you could honestly say that?
You should speak to an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner at MickeyTravels to book your 2021 Walt Disney World vacation.
Your family will treat you like the conquering hero when you do!
Disney Cookware
I’m a sucker for these products, as my kitchen will attest.
Every year, Disney sells a few more waffle irons, donut makers, and crockpots.
Each one comes with a picture of one of my favorite Disney movies. So, I wind up debating how many slow cookers one family needs.
For 2020, you can choose from The Child, Stitch, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, among others.
Disney will happily sell you a waffle maker that looks like the Millennium Falcon, too. And yes, the waffles will be shaped like the spaceship, also!
Oh, this Chef Mickey cookie jar makes for a terrific gift (and conversation starter), as well.
Seriously, our kitchen looks like it’s sponsored by Disney, but we love it. I suspect your friends and family members will as well.
