BREAKING NEWS: Further Cuts At Disney World Including Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire, Turtle Talk and More
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you know that there’s currently a cull happening at Disney World. The theme park juggernaut has made the decision to let most of their Equity actors and entertainers go in the current round of layoffs. If you caught our previous post you’ll know that this includes the following:
- Citizens of Hollywood – Hollywood Studios
- Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue – Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
- Festival of the Lion King – Animal Kingdom
- Finding Nemo The Musical – Animal Kingdom
- Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor – Magic Kingdom
- Voices of Liberty – EPCOT
- Indiana Jones Stunt Show – Hollywood Studios
However since the time that our article has gone to print, several cast members or their family members have reached out to us with news of further cuts. This includes those working on the following productions:
- Turtle Talk With Crush – EPCOT
- Jedi Training Academy – Hollywood Studios
- Main Street Citizens – Magic Kingdom
- Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party– Magic Kingdom
- Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire – Magic Kingdom
- Beauty and the Beast Live On-Stage. – Hollywood Studios
- Green Army Men Drum Corps – Hollywood Studios

As evidenced by the growing list of cuts outlined above, this round of layoffs seems to most directly impact Equity performers with (as far as we know) the only surviving Walt Disney World stage show being For the First Time In Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along at Hollywood Studios.

As of going to print, Actor’s Equity has yet to make an official statement regarding the termination of contracts for its members. However, this is a story that we’ll continue to follow closely and we promise to keep you updated.
