A Handful Of Awesome Disney Shows To Check Out This Weekend
Over the past week, we here at MickeyBlog have been so Mulan focused that we forgot to mention a handful of other awesome programs that are cropping up on Disney+ this weekend. So let’s put the former aside for just a moment and turn our attention shows you’ll definitely want to check out during your Labor Day downtime!
ICYMI:Muppets Now! – Disney+
If you’ve yet to check out The Muppets new LIVE! show on Disney+, there is no time like the present. Episodes debut every Friday. Yesterday’s episode marks the Season finale and finds Scooter juggling between becoming co-moderator of the Muppets NOW social media accounts while uploading news alerts, notifications and more. Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, along with his faithful assistant Beaker receive legal lectures from Muppet attorney Joe The Legal Weasel after their menacing behavior in the lap. The Swedish Chef squares off against Marina Michelson to see who can make the most earth-shattering meatball and Fozzie Bear chats with Seth Rogen while taking care of some “bad babies.” Oh and who can forget Miss Piggy who chats with Linda Cardellini and Taye Diggs for her new Lifestyle with Miss Piggy segment.
ICYMI: Pixar in Real Life— Disney+
This is another show that we here at MickeyBlog HQ have absolutely fallen in love with! In the Coco-inspired season finale, Abuelita shakes her chancia at the street performers in Washington Square Park as New Yorkers help her find Miguel. When she finds him playing his guitar he begs her to continue. Before you know it, other street performers have joined in and Abuelita can’t help but clap along!
The Wolverine—Disney+
Celebrate all things superhero with The Wolverine now on Disney+. Still reeling from the death of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), Wolverine (Hugh Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), the mutant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is lured to Japan for the first time since World War II. He finds himself in the underground world of the yakuza and the samurai.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame—Saturday, September 5, at 11:55 p.m. and Sunday, September 6, at 10:15 a.m. on Freeform
Starting tonight, you’ll be able to revisit this beloved Disney animated film inspired by Victor Hugo’s classic novel. This Disney animated adventure tells the story of Quasimodo (voiced by Tom Hulce) who is a lonely bell ringer at Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. With his gargoyle friends Victor (Charles Kimbrough), Hugo (Jason Alexander) and Laverne (Mary Wickes), he decides to leave his tower and venture out on to the Parisian streets. It is here that he befriends the gypsy Esmeralda (Demi Moore.) When she seek sanctuary in the Cathedral to escape Judge Claude Frollo (Tony Jay) Quasimode helps her makes her getaway. When Esmeralda’s Gypsy hideout comes under threat it is ultimately up to Quasimode to save the people.
Fancy Nancy—Sunday, September 6, at 12 p.m. ET on Disney Junior
A brand new episode debuts tomorrow. Called “Trois Cheers for Mrs. Devine” it follows Mrs. Devine (Christine Baranski) who gets the blues. It’s up to Nancy (Mia Sinclair Jenness) to cheer her neighbor up. Then in “Escar-No!”, Nancy who loves all things French questions this love after she experiences escargot for the first time!
