Brand New Mulan Trailer Has Dropped Ahead of Tomorrow’s Premiere on Disney+
Tomorrow is the day Disney Friends! The much-anticipated live-action version of Mulan will be headed to Disney+ where subscribers can get premiere access to the film for $29.99. Ahead of this exciting release, Disney has released a new commercial and trailer for the film.
The film, as you know was supposed to hit theaters just as the COVID-19 crisis started. The premiere date was pushed back several times before Disney made the decision to bring it directly to their streaming network – Disney+ but for an extra fee. However, as we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, the company announced this week that starting in December they will offer access to subscribers for no additional fee.
All eyes are on the Mulan premiere which could set a precedent for how films are released during COVID-19. However, Bob Chapek was quick to point out that the company is look at Mulan as an exception rather than the rule when it comes to film projects from the studio. He said, “We are looking at Mulan as a one-off as opposed to saying there’s a new business windowing model we are looking at.” Chapek added, “That said, we find it very interesting to be able to take a new offering to consumers at that $29.99 price and learn from it and see what happens not only in terms of the uptick of the number of subscribers we got on the platform but also the number of transactions we get on that PVOD offering.”
Disney’s synopsis of the movie is as follows:
“Mulan is the epic adventure of a fearless young woman who masquerades as a man in order to fight Northern Invaders attacking China. The eldest daughter of an honored warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined, and quick on her feet. When the Emperor issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army, she steps in to take the place of her ailing father as Hua Jun, becoming one of China’s greatest warriors ever.”
