Construction Update: Work Continues On Walkway Between Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom
If you’ve been following along with us here a MickeyBlog then you know that at Walt Disney World they have been busy building a walkway that will allow pedestrians to walk from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to Magic Kingdom. The work started back in 2019 and it looks as it is inching ever closer to completion.
Here at MickeyBlog we paid a visit Magic Kingdom today and managed to capture some images of the work that is continuing to be carried out on this footpath. Let’s take a look.
As you can see the work along the pathway is still very much in progress this shot was taken to the part of the path nearest the Magic Kingdom.
To put it in perspective in the distance of this image you can see the Magic Kingdom docking area for water taxis.
As you can see from the image above the Magic Kingdom entrance to the footpath sits just under the the monorail stop for the theme park.
According to permits filed, a pivot bridge is being incorporated into the path layout that will allow boats to continue to path through the waterways when guests aren’t crossing the area on foot.
You can see that for the most part the monorail runs along the footpath including over the pivot bridge area pictured above.
You can even see Cinderella Castle shining brightly in the distance with its new paint job!
As you can see, the path will be lit and many of the streetlamps have already been installed.
With most of the pathway already cemented into place, we noticed that there was still quite a bit of landscaping being done to the area.
Tented checkpoints are also being put into place. Guests using the footpath will need to clear security coming in and out of the Magic Kingdom.
