Top Hospital Official States He ‘Wouldn’t Hesitate’ to Visit Disney World, Says Cases in Florida Will Peak This Month
There has much debate the past few days that Walt Disney World has reopened even though COVID-19 cases are currently surging in Florida. However, a top hospital official has come to the defense of the Theme Park’s reopening and says he “wouldn’t hesitate” to visit now along with giving a forecast when current cases in Florida may peak.
President and CEO of AdventHealth, Terry Shaw, was on CBS’ “Face the Nation” over the weekend and when asked about Walt Disney World reopening amid the increase in COVID-19 cases in the state of Florida, this is what he had to say:
As a health-care provider, my job is to help people do things safety. I will tell you, based upon the way Disney is approaching this with limiting people in doing all the screenings that they’re doing, I personally am a Disney season ticket holder, and I wouldn’t hesitate to go to Disney as a health-care CEO based on the fact that they’re working extremely hard to keep people safe.
AdventHealth operates 30 hospitals in the state of Florida. It also has locations in nine additional states. They have been consulting with Walt Disney World to implement new health and safety guidelines as well as doing on-site temperature checks when Guests and Cast Members arrive at select locations on property.
When asked about when we can see this current waive of COVID-19 cases peak in Florida, Shaw said, if people wear face coverings and practice social distancing, the peak should be “sometime in front of us in July.” Face coverings are currently required by all Cast Members and Guests 2 years old and over on Disney property. Theme Park capacity is being monitored with a new Disney Park Pass reservation system.
The Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopened up to the public this past Saturday, July 11. EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopen this Wednesday, July 15.
What do you think about Shaw’s statements? Do you feel say about returning to Florida and Walt Disney World in the near future? I for sure do! I’m ready to take advantage of those low crowds and wait times!
