Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Still Going to Happen This Year? Here’s What Disney Has To Say
Tonight Disney surprised us with another round of interesting announcements as we inch ever closer to Walt Disney World re-opening. The first is sure to be sad news for Autumn visitors in that Disney World has officially announced that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be cancelled for ALL DATES in 2020.
If there’s any silver lining to be had in this news its that Food & Wine Festival will be back starting on July 15th though not in the way you may think. EPCOT is promising a “Taste Of” version that provides food booths but without the extra activities including the ever popular Eat to the Beat Concert Series.
So where does leave Magic Kingdom’s “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party” and EPCOT’s “Festival of the Holidays.?” Disney has an update for us (sort of.)
In a statement posted on Disney Park’s Blog this evening Disney said that the cancellations above “may spark questions about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, which includes the Candlelight Processional.” It continues, “We are monitoring our new environment closely, and will make a decision on these events as we continue to learn more from government and health officials. As always, our goal is to explore every option and look at ways in which we can still host events and festivals full of Disney magic, while still operating responsibly with the health and safety of our guests and cast members in mind.”
It should be remembered that tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party had already gone on sale and that guests will be refunded over the next few weeks. Disney had yet to release tickets for this year’s Christmas Parties making it easier should they decide to give it a miss.
This a story that we’ll continue to follow closely. Readers are encouraged to keep checking in with us for the latest new and updates. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly at mroden@mickeytravels.com with any questions!
