Avatar 2 Will Resume Production in New Zealand Next Week
Avatar 2, the sequel by James Cameron could resume production as soon as next week. Shooting had to halt earlier this year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
However, Jon Landau made the announcement this past week that the team will be heading back to New Zealand to start filming by the end of this month!

As you can see from the Instagram post below, the producer wrote, “Our #Avatar sets are ready – and we couldn’t be more excited to be headed back to New Zealand next week.” He added, “Check out the Matador, a high speed forward command vessel (bottom) and the Picador jetboat (top) – can’t wait to share more,” he said of the vessels.
The production team has also been sharing awesome images with us of the Avatar set prior to the shutdown including footage of the giant water tank. As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, it would appear that each of the films in will represent a specific element. The next film is all about Pandora’s incredible waterways.
Below is a picture of the cast (including Kate Winslet) posing for a photo in between shooting in the tank.

As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, the New Zealand Film Commission recently lifted restrictions on production after a significant decrease in COVID-19 cases. The next Avatar film is slated to be released on December 17, 2021 with addition films in the franchise hitting theaters every other year.
During the production shutdown, Landau said that virtual production with Weta Digitial continued on the effects that will be used in the film.
Avatar 2 will be released on December 17, 2021. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for the latest Avatar news and updates.
