New Permits Filed for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel, Indicate Opening Date
With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, many have speculated that work on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel would stop completely with no plans of restarting it any time soon due to a weaker economy. I am happy to report, that all though the opening date of the resort may be pushed back a little, work appears to still be ongoing per new permits filed.
The new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel permits are for the “Fabrication and Installation of Sets.” It lists Walt Disney Imagineering as the owner and Adirondack Scenic as the contractor.
One thing that sticks out on the new permit for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel is the “expiration date of notice of commencement.” This date is normally one year from the date of the recording unless otherwise noted. The permit was filed on May 13, 2020 but the date of commencement listed is January 29, 2022.
Most recently, it was revealed that the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel would open next year in 2021. No exact date in 2021 was ever noted but this would push the opening back even more – which would not be unexpected as most construction projects going on at Walt Disney World have currently been halted due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Even in times like these, it’s nice to see, even though behind the scenes, work is continuing on some of our much-anticipated projects coming to Walt Disney World. There are several other projects that were announced before the COVID-19 pandemic began including the PLAY! Pavilion coming to Epcot. But, as we reported last month, new permits were filed for there as well.
