‘Hamilton’ Comes to Disney+ in July
It was an exciting morning on Good Morning America! Bog Iger was joined by Lin-Manuel Miranda to announce that super popular stage production “Hamilton” will begin airing on Disney+ beginning Friday, July 3, 2020.
“I can’t think of another work of art in the last decade that’s had the cultural impact of ‘Hamilton,'” said Bob Iger. “I just think it’s brilliant and in these times to tell the story of people uniting together against forces of diversity I think is quite relevant and actually quite important.”
“We like to tell great stories and I can’t think of a better one to bring forward,” he said.
It looks like we weren’t the only ones excited to hear that “Hamilton” would be coming to Disney+ in July! Vanessa Nadal, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s wife, shared this to her Twitter account:
Sneaky photo of @Lin_Manuel excitedly/nervously waiting to drop this news. He woke up like a jolt of energy (more than usual) and could not keep still! pic.twitter.com/kN59udV8kC

The filmed version of “Hamilton” was supposed to arrive in theaters on October 15, 2020. But now, with most of America and the world home, they have decided to bring it to our living rooms via Disney+ in July instead. Lin-Manuel Miranda said the show was filmed over days back in July 2016 and will feature the original cast.
We’re thrilled to bring the extraordinary @HamiltonMusical to #DisneyPlus on July 3. In this very difficult time, this story of leadership, tenacity, hope, love & the power of people to unite against adversity is both relevant and inspiring. Thank you @Lin_Manuel!

“Just imagine having the best seat in the house,” Lin-Manuel Miranda said of watching the original cast perform in the filmed version. “You’re getting it from the director of the actual show and he knows exactly where to put the camera.”
