Disney World WOULD Fall Under Orange County’s Stay At Home Order In Effect Until April 9th
If there’s one thing that we’re doing several times a week Disney friends, it is checking disneyworld.com for word that the resort will lengthen it’s closure dates from the end of March (which is in just 5 days) to April 9th keeping it more in line with the stay at home order in effect by Orange County.
However, when visiting the website it still has the original dates up:
This has led some Disney fans to speculate that Disney is exempt for the Orange County order. However, according to a piece this morning in the Orlando Sentinel, that is not the case.
Orange County government confirmed Thursday that Walt Disney World resort IS included in the order with amusement rides and water parks on the list of non-essential business that must abide by the order. This means that the EARLIEST Disney World would be allowed to reopen is 11pm on April 9th under the order meant to stop the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The Orlando Sentinel reached out to Disney for comment this morning but has yet to receive a response. With Orange County government making the stay-at-home order clear, we suspect its only a matter of time before The Walt Disney Company officially announces a closure extension in line with the stay-at-home order.
As previously reported, Orange County Mayor Jerry Deming’s order goes into effect at 11pm tonight and covers 13 municipalities in the county.
