Can Marvel Make “The Punisher” Into the Next “Joker”?

When Marvel started looking for a dark, brooding, R-Rated idea for a movie to match the success of The Joker, a logical character would be Frank Castle aka The Punisher. The Joker was a huge comic-book movie success for 2019. It’s lead actor, Joaquin Phoenix, won the Academy Award for Best Actor, and the film has a huge cultural following. (wegotthiscovered.com)

Not to be outdone, Marvel, began to look through the Marvel Universe for a character who could match the same level of darkness and perhaps insanity. The Punisher seems to fit the bill. Castle’s origin revolves around his murdered family and the revenge he takes on those he deems responsible. His military training makes him a human weapon, but even more dangerous is his constant on-the-edge of completely losing control behavior.
A movie for The Punisher is still in its very early days. Planning hasn’t even really begun and its not confirmed any movie featuring The Punisher will be made in the same vein as Joker. But it seems fans of MCU agree. Any full-length Punisher needs to be just a dark and maybe even as violent as the character.
