Former Disney Employee Files Lawsuit Claiming She Was Fired After Filing Sexual Harassment Claim
According to a recent piece on ClickOrlando.com, a lawsuit has recently been filled by a former Walt Disney World employee claiming she was wrongfully fired after filing a sexual harassment claim against her supervisor.
The suit was filed on February 10th. The woman reports that she served as a cook at the Hollywood Brown Derby a signature/fine dining restaurant in Hollywood Studios. Among her tasks was preparing food for Woody’s Lunch Box a quick-service eatery in the new Toy Story Land area of the park.
She reported being sexually harassed by the supervising chef while on duty including cames that she was touched during her shifts and that sexual comments were directed toward her. In the lawsuit the woman claims that she reported this conduct to upper management but was met with retaliation and falsely accused of workplace and safety violations. This resulted in the termination of her employment at Disney World.
The lawsuit goes further to suggest that mistakes were made in scheduling, she didn’t receive proper training and was reported for taking drugs as a means of retaliation.
According to the suit, she is seeking reimbursement for lost wages and benefits alongside an award for compensatory and punitive damages as well as reinstatement.
