Ticket Prices Increasing for Tokyo Parks
Interesting news coming out of Japan, as Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will soon be increasing their ticket prices. According to The Mainichi, this will happen in April due to attraction enhancements and improvements to the smartphone app. This will be the first ticket price increase for the Tokyo parks since April of 2016.
The Tokyo Appeal
The Tokyo Disney Resort has increased in popularity over the years, and has seen record-breaking attendance levels. Tokyo Disneyland shares many similarities with Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, though Tokyo DisneySea is unique to Japan. On USA Today’s list of top theme parks in the world, only Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, and Tokyo Disneyland ranked higher than Tokyo DisneySea.
Upcoming Changes
Ticket prices for the Tokyo parks will be increasing to 8,500 yen for adults, 6,900 yen for kids 12-17, and will not change from 4,900 yen for kids 4-11. In US dollars, these prices are equal to $75 for adults, $63.66 for kids 12-17, and $45.21 for kids 4-11.
When these changes take place on April 1, 2020, a new discount will also be implemented for those with disabilities. These significant discounts will drop ticket prices 12% for adults, 16% for kids 12-17, and 11% for kids 4-11. In a new statement from Oriental Land Co., the company reports:
“We offer guests a full day of cherished memories and great value, and continue to invest in both new experiences and training our Cast to deliver magical, memorable moments with a high-level of hospitality.”
