When Will My MagicBands and Luggage Tags Arrive in the Mail?
For those planning a Walt Disney World getaway, the last important milestones before you head to the airport is getting your MagicBands and Magical Express Luggage Tags in the mail. However, for those nervous about traveling or who want to make sure everything goes perfectly, waiting for them to arrive can be the source of alot of anxiety!
That’s why we here at MickeyBlog thought we’d give you a quick overview of when you can be expecting both items and to answer a few of your delivery questions.
Magic Bands
Guests wanting to get your MagicBands plenty of time in advance of your Walt Disney World Resort stay should make sure that you have your MagicBands customized by the 30-day mark. This coincides with the final payment deadline for your vacation package and this is the stage by which Disney usually starts processing MagicBand Orders.
Magic Bands can be customized using the My Disney Experience App and guests have two options to choose from. You can go with the FREE solid color bands or add characters or themes to your bands for an additional cost which you’ll pay with a credit or Disney gift cards.
Solid Colored MagicBands
At the moment, Disney waits until after the 30-day mark to start sending solid MagicBands out to households. It is rare that you get the FREE MagicBands before this. It is likely that around the 30-day mark you will notice a notification when you log into your My Disney Experience account letting you know that the bands are processing and another notification with a tracking number when they are ready to ship.
Premium MagicBands
If you opt to go with the customizable MagicBands they may process alot earlier. Since they are a product that you paid for, Disney will typically start sending these out shortly after customization meaning that in some instances you may receive them months in advance. Customizations and tracking is also done through the My Disney Experience account with payment for the bands being due in full at the time of purchase.
I have guests staying in multiple rooms and only half of my party received their MagicBands. Should I be worried?
Absolutely not. If you booked multiple Walt Disney World Resort rooms under multiple reservations then it’s unlikely that both sets of MagicBands will be processed in the same batch and sent out on the same day. Be patient. If one order shows up, give it a few days and in most instances, both boxes of MagicBands will arrive. And remember you can keep tabs on when your MagicBands are being processed and track shipment using your My Disney experience account.
What if my MagicBands never show up?
In all of my experience of booking vacations for clients, this rarely happens. If it does there’s no need to worry. Disney has a system in place! Simply show up at the front desk at your Walt Disney World resort and they will issue you with a set of standard grey MagicBands. Your resort gift shop, as well as stores throughout Walt Disney World, will also sell MagicBands that you can activate and use at any time during your stay!
Please Note: MagicBands will not be shipped to guests living Internationally! You can still customize them in advance by the can ONLY bed shipped to your resort where you can pick them up at the Front Desk when you arrive.
If My MagicBands don’t arrive can I still write Magical Express from the Airport?
Absolutely. Any guests travelling internationally will not have MagicBands delivered in advance so Disney definitely has as system in place to make sure you reach your destination with ease. Make sure you have your Walt Disney World resort confirmation number and just present that at the Magical Express check-in kiosk at the airport!
Magical Express Luggage Tags
A fantastic perk for guests staying onsite at a Walt Disney World resort is the ability to enjoy free transfers to Orlando International Airport via Disney’s Magical Express. A great part of the service is that Disney will even collect your checked bags for you so that you don’t need to wait at the baggage carousel. In order to do this, they will send you luggage tags in the mail in advance so that you put on your bags while you check them in at your departure airport.
When it comes to Magical Express luggage tags, these are also typically sent out after the 30-day mark and should typically show up at your door 2-3 weeks before you are due to arrive at Disney! It is uncommon to receive luggage tags before then. If you’re at the two week mark and haven’t yet received your luggage tags contact your Travel Agent or Disney to find out when they were sent.
What if I didn’t receive my luggage tags before my vacation?
Again, not getting your luggage tags is rare but if it happens there is no need to worry. I am a notorious last-minute Disney traveller and oftentimes it means I have missed the deadline for luggage tags to be sent out. However, if you don’t have luggage tags but want to use the baggage pick-up service simply hang on to your boarding pass that has your checked baggage tag affixed to it. Head directly to Disney’s Magical Express kiosk and hand them your baggage claim ticket. They can use this to retrieve your bags.
Guests should note: There are some exceptions where guests may be unable to use the baggage collection service. International Guests MUST pick up their own bags and clear customs. You can then take them with you to Magical Express where your driver will load them onto the bus for you. Also luggage delivery is not available to guests arriving after 10pm. In these instances, you will NOT receive luggage tags in advance.

Solid Colored MagicBands: Typically arrive about 3 weeks before your Disney getaway.
Character/Graphic MagicBands: May ship earlier depending on when you paid for them.
Luggage Tags: Typically arrive 3 weeks before your Disney World getaway.
