Hakuna Matata! Lion King Show Tumble Monkeys Return this Summer
It’s been almost two years to the day since Walt Disney World Resort (as well as Disney parks around the world) closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. With so much returning to a new normal lately, many wondered when one group of performers would return to Disney’s Animal Kindgom theme park: the Festival of the Lion King Show Tumble Monkeys. In a TikTok video posted just a bit ago by Disney Parks, we finally got our long-awaited answer. The playful, bug-eating, trapeze-swinging acrobats return to the riveting musical review this summer.

One of the most popular entertainment options at Walt Disney World Resort, the tumble monkeys add a bit of levity (literally) to the emotional and charismatic show. Performed multiple times a day at the nature-centric theme park, the Festival of the Lion King delights with musical talent, invigortating dancing, and witty humor typical of one of the show’s stars, Timon.
Timon features prominently during the “Hakuna Matata” scene, which began showcasing the Tumble Monkeys skills when the park opened over twenty years ago. Much of the show returned when the performances resumed last May in a modified form.
Tumble Monkeys Not the Only to Soar
Among other safety modifications made, the dancers that perform an incredibly beautiful routine to “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” maintain a safe distance throughout the current form of the show. In the past, the female lead has flown multiple times during the show, but that too was put on pause do to pandemic protocols.
Make sure to check the MyDisneyExperience app for showtimes over the next few months. We will, of course, keep you posted about any news of an official return date for the comic relief Tumble Monkeys as summer dates approach.
