A Closer Look at Some of the Delicious Treats at California Adventure Food & Wine Festival
The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival is in full swing and is wowing visitors with its delicious array of California cuisine. The festival runs until April 23rd! For those lucky enough to be visiting this Spring, you’ll find an eclectic array of delicious eats and treats including everything from Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls to Salmon Poke and Cauliflower Ceviche.
All of these dishes are united by one common characteristic. According to Chef de Cuisine Jimmy Welta ““Food & Wine is a focus on California cuisine and basically, everything California, from Southern California and that melting pot, all the way up through Napa and its wine, produce, cheeses, dairy, anything that comes out of California.”
With kitchens like the Avocado Time Marketplace and dishes like the Meyer Lemon Blue Diamond Almond Macaron, it’s easy to feel that California influence throughout the festivities.
A highlight of the menus each year are the unique combinations or the “Disney twist.” Not quite sure what that means? Tuck into dishes the Deconstructed Teriyaki Chicken Musubi with Pineapple Relish and the Anaheim Chile Relleno Bites with Salsa Verde at the Golden Dreams Marketplace and you’ll soon understand!
This year’s festival also boasts some pretty delicious vegetarian options. A highlight is the Ghost Pepper Mac and Cheese with Chili Cheese Corn Chip Dust at Peppers Cali-ente near Wine Country Trattoria. Wieta also had this to say of the spice level, “It’ll light you on fire!”
New to the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival is Dinner with the Disney Chefs. This special dining event will take place on March 28. Weita along with Pastry Chef Jean-Marc Viallet have put together a cookbook of their favorite recipes from past Festivals which you’ll be able to enjoy during this four-course dinner. Each of the courses will also be expertly paired with a selection of wines and cocktails.
