New Solar Facility At Walt Disney World Resort Adds First Solar Panel
The Walt Disney World Resort is on a mission to bring as much renewable energy to the parks as possible. They are just a few months away from having the ability to power two of the four theme parks using solar panels. Of course, they won’t actually being powering the parks, but instead adding to the local power grid. The new solar facility has just installed the first of half a million solar panels!
About The New Solar Facility
This new 270 acre, 50 megawatt solar facility is being developed in collaboration with the Reedy Creek Improvement District and Origis Energy USA. The goal is to provide renewable power to the Walt Disney World Resort. It is located just outside Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and will hopefully be completed later this year. Cast Members from Disney’s Animal, Science and Environment and Horticulture teams are doing their part as well. They are working to make the site pollinator friendly in an effort to lessen the effects on endangered species of butterflies, bees and other insects.
