Meet the Bands of the Garden Rocks Concert Series
The 2018 Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is well underway and guests have been enjoying the Outdoor Kitchens, beautiful gardens, and topiaries unique to the festival. I’ve been pouring over the event menus, planning which topiaries I’ll be taking pictures with,…yeah, you can safely say I can’t wait to get to the Festival and see it all for myself! I know the flowers are the focus, but there are some heavy hitters from the old school music scene who will be taking the stage during the Garden Rocks Concert Series. The full list of bands can be found here, but these rocking acts are sure to play sets that will be remembered long after the flowers fade. Contact our friends at MickeyTravels to book your trip to see these rockers!
Chart-Topping Headliners
Survivor
No one supplies us with a list of more motivational song lyrics than Disney, so of course they would invite hype-worthy bands to play at the place where dreams come true! “Hangin tough, stayin hungry” is a phrase we should all strive to live our lives by, and I can’t wait to hear Survivor belt out their classic “Eye of the Tiger” at Garden Rocks! (April 8-9)
Smash Mouth
Hey now, you’re an all star! I’m about to age myself here, but please tell me I’m not the only one who remembers seeing Shrek in theatres and belting out Smash Mouth tunes along with the big green ogre on the screen? I have tons of happy childhood memories surrounding songs like “All Star” and “I’m a Believer”, and my fingers are crossed that they’ll play both of these songs when they visit Epcot April 13-14.
Rick Springfield
Springfield hit his height of fame well, well before I was old enough to be a consumer of music, but I’d bet a good amount of money that most of my friends- myself included- would know the words to “Jesse’s Girl”. He’ll take the stage with his band April 15-16.
Herman’s Hermits
I respect Peter Noone for his ability to front a band that topped the US charts twice without ever having to write an original song. Now that takes an unusual kind of talent I’ve never heard of before or since the 1964-founded group made it happen. Even more shockingly impressive is the fact that they’re still touring…with the same front man! Although a little younger in this photo, you can hear (a slightly older) Peter Noone’s thick British accent on tunes like “I’m Henry the VII, I am” May 4-7.
Village People
It’s played at ever sporting event. It’s played at every kids’ birthday party. It’s played before every concert. Finish these lyrics “It’s fun to stay at the…”. Admit it, your brain just finished the lyrics “YMCA” without you even having to think about it! A band that has a hit with as much staying power as “YMCA”, the third act of the Garden Rocks Concert Series will kick off on a high note!
