A Look Forward to Disney’s Incredible Summer
With superhuman speed, summer 2018 will be upon is before you know it. We’re into March now, but last month Walt Disney World announced its plans for Summer 2018, and it’s slated to be incredible. With anticipation building for the release of The Incredibles 2 (June 15, 2018), Walt Disney World is planning a big summer celebrating the super family we fell in love with back in 2004. What’s on tap for the summer? Read on to learn all the super details!
An Incredible Dance Party
The Incredibles have set their sights on Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, and they’re ready to throw a party in an out of this world fashion that only superheros can muster! Don’t worry if you’re not a super, all are invited to dance the night away in the all-new interactive entertainment experience. The dance party will take place nightly starting Memorial Day Weekend, and continue all summer long!
Adults, kids, heroes, and villains are invited to the Rocket Tower Stage to dance with favorites from the film franchise. You can cut a rug with Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone on the dance floor. In addition to these beloved characters, Edna Mode- the woman behind super family’s wardrobe- will meet with park guests for the first time ever!
Donald the Duck-o-saur
Donald duck is always scheming, and this summer, you can see one of his wacky plots come to full fruition when he takes over Dinoland at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Billed as a ‘dino-tastic’ celebration, Donald will exercise his exquisite taste in decorating as he plans to place personal touches throughout Dinoland USA. I don’t know about you, but I’m always excited- and a little nervous- to see what shenanigans the grumpy duck gets himself into. Donald’s takeover of Dinoland is in celebration of Animal Kingdom’s 20th anniversary.
Celebrating 20 Years of Wild Fun!
A new show is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in its 20th year of welcoming guests and celebrating the animals we share the earth with. Speaking of animals, its fitting that this show will star both real and fictional animals in Explorers Meet UP! A Great Bird Adventure.
Characters from UP share the spotlight with new exotic bird species from around the world. Wilderness Explorer Russell and his talking dog Dug will guide guests through the show as each species of bird is introduced. I really miss Flights of Wonder at the Animal Kingdom, so I for one can’t wait to see this high-flying new show!
A Concert In Space
Soon, Epcot guests will be able to embark upon a mission with the Guardians of the Galaxy in an all-new attraction in Future World. No, the ride isn’t opening sooner than anticipated…but the Guardians of the Galaxy will land in Epcot well ahead of schedule.
The dreamy Star Lord and fiercely cool Gamora will play a 3 month residency with their Alien band at the American Adventure Pavilion in Epcot! The band will play a set featuring songs from the film’s soundtracks: Awesome Mixtape 1 and Awesome Mixtape 2. This concert version of the film’s soundtracks is undoubtedly meant to help build anticipation for the new attraction coming to Epcot next year.
Finally We’ll Fly To Infinity!
Each of the experiences above will surely add an extra dose of fun to an already much-anticipated summer, but all fall in the shadow of the June 23, 2018 opening of Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It seems almost impossible that animated film characters created 33 years ago would appeal to today’s children, but Disney characters have a way of maintaining (and even gaining) popularity as the years pass.
Shrink down to toy size and get ready to play with Woody and Buzz when Andy opens the gate to his backyard this summer. Toy Story Land will open this summer featuring 11 acres of fun including a new restaurant, two new attractions, and new character experiences! Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers will join the already-popular Toy Story Mania!, completing the three attraction offerings. Woody’s Lunch Box, a new quick serve dining location, will undoubtedly be themed impeccably to match with the rest of the brand-new land. Which of these experiences are you most excited for?
