BREAKING NEWS: No More Airline Check In Desks At Disney Resorts?
So during our visit to Walt Disney World today we popped by Disney’s Contemporary Resort where it looks like we have an important bit of news to pass on to our Disney friends.
As many of you know, Disney’s Contemporary Resort along with all official onsite Walt Disney Resort properties used to have an airline check-in desk. This was the spot that you were directed to bring your luggage to the morning before your flights to have it ready to go for Disney’s Magical Express.
Since the resorts reopened in July, Magical Express announced that they would not longer be retrieving luggage and we get it. During the COVID-19 pandemic with new social distancing and health and safety restrictions, suspending the service is an additional way to keep guests and cast members safe.
However, the changes may be a bit more permanent than initially anticipated. The photos we’ve shared above are of the alcove previously used for airport check-in located at the main entrance of the Contemporary.
Not only have all remnants of the airport check-in been cleared from the area but someone was actually painting over the signage while we were there.
Guests will no longer see the baggage check-in signage in the area.
During our visit we spoke to a cast member and asked if the changes were as permanent as they look and we were told – “YES!”
If our sources are right, this could mean that baggage check-in may not be returning to the resorts at Walt Disney World at all. Or at least not any time soon.
Yes, it’s true that you can paint a new sign as easily as you can paint over an old one. But, for now guests using Magical Express should plan on tending to your own luggage for the foreseeable future.
This is of course a story that we’ll continue to follow closely here at MickeyBlog so keep checking in with us for further news and updates!

I sure hope this comes back. One of our favorite things about staying at a resort and a driving factor of where we stay. Majorly bummed
